Food World donates to orphanage

-

FOOD World last Friday donated foodstuffs, clothes and utensils worth over $2 000 to Rose of Sharon Orphanage in Ruwa.

Addressing journalists, the company’s head of marketing and sales, Mr Tendai Chisvo, said the donation was a way of ploughing back to the community.

“Every quarter of the year, we donate to these groups and we make sure that every quarter of our profit goes to orphanages or schools,” he said.

“Most of the time we bring in clothing, food and other requirements that orphans may need, but this quarter we have chosen to come and support Rose of Sharon Orphanage here in Ruwa .”

Mr Chisvo said the organisation was humbled to donate to an institution that had talented and hard-working children.

“I understand that at this orphanage they cater for 400 children ranging from ECD to high school, and they also support them throughout their tertiary education,” he said.

“They are doing a very impressive job.”

Speaking during the handover ceremony, founder and director of Rose of Sharon Orphanage Mrs Fatima Maruta thanked the organisation for their gesture.

“It is our fervent hope that as we celebrate today, we continue to focus on our core values, purpose, vision and mission that we may score greater heights in the years and days to come,” she said.

“Like all other organisations, we encounter challenges along the way, but we however remain true to our founding commitment to provide shelter, good nutrition and, above all, sound education for orphaned, abandoned (and) underprivileged children.” — Herald Reporter.
