Be vigilant, Zanu-PF members urged

- Walter Nyamukondiwa Chinhoyi Bureau

ZANU-PF should to remain vigilant as remnants of the G40 faction are still trying to destabilise the party, a Politburo member has said.

Addressing the Zanu-PF Mashonaland West Provincial Coordinating Committee (PCC) meeting in Chinhoyi on Monday, the ruling party’s national secretary for science and technology Ambassador Christopher Mutsvangwa said the forthcoming harmonised elections would deal a blow to agents of destabilisation.

“Those who are going against the party and making moves to destabilise it should now be dealt with at the polls,” he said.

“We should use the campaign to make sure we get as many people as possible to our party. Let us use the election to deal once and for all with the G40 cabal.”

He said the G40 members routinely meet in Cape Town, South Africa, to strategise on how to destabilise Zanu-PF and ensure President Mnangagwa does not win the forthcoming elections.

These engagements, he said, led to the formation of the National Patriotic Front (NPF).

Provincial treasurer Cde Dexter Nduna and other party members raised concern over the inclusion of some known G40 members.

“We are against some of the names that have been approved to stand in primary elections and yet these are people we all know are working with opposition elements to destabilise the party,” he said.

The province resolved that they would write to the national elections directorate registering their concerns.

Provincial chairperson Cde Ziyambi Ziyambi indicated that the concerns will be forwarded to party headquarters.

“We should come together and work to strengthen the party. We should avoid bickering and any other activities that weaken the party.

“The G40 cabal is looking for loopholes to destroy us. We need to remain united,” he said.

Meanwhile, Zimbabwe National Liberation War Veterans Association (ZNLWVA) provincial chairperson Cde Cornelius Muwoni said elements trying to destablise the party are known.

“Elements bent on destabilising the party are known and they will fail in their endeavours. Let us focus on ensuring that the party wins resoundingly,” he said.
