NBSZ engages blood donors
THE National Blood Service Zimbabwe (NBSZ) is scheduled to host a consultative meeting for Harare blood donors next month to give them a platform to share their views with the organisation.
In an interview yesterday, NBSZ public affairs manager Ms Esther Massundah said the meeting was set for Friday next week.
“National Blood Services Zimbabwe is conducting this meeting after the previous meeting held on the 2nd of February this year,” she said. “The consultative meeting is meant for donors to raise their issues or concerns that they have.”
The meeting, she added, was donor-focused.
Harare is the last province to hold the consultative meetings that have been taking place around the country, especially after the recent extraordinary general meeting (EGM).
“The meetings were held in all provinces in Zimbabwe and the meeting to be held on the 11th of May is the last one,” said Ms Massundah. “I urge Harare donors to spread the word to fellow blood donors.”
At the beginning of the year, NBSZ called for an EGM that was meant to deal with some outstanding issues that were affecting the organisation.
Members of the NBSZ forced the adjournment of the EGM, saying they needed time to consult and come up with an informed decision after the board failed to provide answers to several questions raised from the floor.
NBSZ is mandated to collect, process and distribute blood and blood products to hospitals in Zimbabwe.
