Councillor accused of stealing inputs

-

ZIBAGWE Rural District Council (ZRDC) Ward 20 Councillor Sisasenkosi Ndebele (MDC-T) has been accused of swindling farmers in Silobela of 30 bags of seed maize they received under the presidential input support scheme.

Clr Ndebele was under investigation after she allegedly offloaded 30 bags of seed at her homestead while on the way from Kwekwe where she had collected the inputs on behalf of the farmers.

Simana village head Mr Phumulani Simana confirmed that Clr Ndebele was under investigation.

“We discovered that the bags delivered by the councillor to us did not tally with the number that we were expecting, so we lodged a complaint,” he said.

“We asked how many bags they had sent and they said 300, but upon counting we only discovered 270. But she insisted that she had received 270 bags only.” Mr Simana said the matter was reported to the police.

He said they had since lodged a complaint with Silobela legislator Mthokozisi Manoki Mpofu.

Cde Mpofu confirmed that he was informed of the issue.

“Yes, we received the reports and the matter is in the hands of the police and I understand she is supposed to appear in court,” said Cde Manoki.

He said Clr Ndebele’s actions were of a corrupt nature, which goes against President Mnangagwa’s fight against corruption.

“This is corruption at its best from a person we expect should be leading from the front in the fight against corruption which our President is calling for,” said Cde Manoki. — Herald Reporter.
