Bosso seek redemption

HIGHLANDERS live-wire winger Gabriel Nyoni says his teammates should avoid errors which could jeopardise their redemption mission against newboys Mutare City in a Castle Lager Premier Soccer League tie at Barbourfields this afternoon.

The Bulawayo giants are seeking redemption after they suffered a 0-1 defeat to Ngezi Platinum Stars at Gibbo last Saturday.

The loss was Madinda Ndlovu charges’ first this season.

“We were all disappointed by the defeat we suffered at the hands of Ngezi Platinum Stars. We played very well and we were disciplined in all departments,” said Nyoni.

“The goal was avoidable if we had done what we are all capable of doing. We had defended well, applying all the techniques right, but that lapse of concentration in the dying stages of the game got us punished.

“But tough luck. That is the nature of football. In a game of football, if you lose concentration you are bound to be punished, but then we should also admit that Ngezi Platinum Stars is a good side although we should have picked something.

“We cannot cry over spilt milk. That result is now water under the bridge and we have to move on.

“We are playing Mutare City, a very good side with a good coach. The game will be tricky, but we can’t afford to drop points in this match. We need to reduce or at least maintain a reasonable gap between us and the leading pack,”

Highlanders’ fine run this season has evoked some good old memories when the Bulawayo giants used to be the team to beat. And Nyoni urged the fans not lose heart from the Ngezi Platinum Stars setback.

“Our fans are always the ones who inspire us a lot. When we lose matches, it is fans who I feel for the most. They want their team to win and they enjoy that.

“Highlanders supporters are special and we need to give them a lot of respect and there is no better way to do that than to deliver in the field of play.

“Several of our fans travelled all the way to watch our match against Ngezi Platinum Stars and I felt for them when we lost. I would like to urge them to continue coming to the matches as we will not always disappoint.

“In our game against Mutare City, they should come in their numbers to cheer us on and I promise they will not be disappointed.’’
