Potraz donates 20 computers

- Lovemore Kadzura Rusape Correspondent

TWO schools in Rusape got a timely boost when they each received 10 stateof-the-art laptops from the Postal and Telecommunications Regulatory Authority of Zimbabwe.

Tsanzaguru and St Theresa Primary schools received the computers after the Proportional Representative for Makoni Cde Lucia Chitura approached the authority after noticing the technological inadequacies at the schools.

Cde Chitura also handed over 40 bags of cement to Tsanzaguru Primary under the Makoni West Constituency Development Fund.

Cde Chitura has been overseeing the affairs of the constituency following the recall from Parliament of the legislator Kudzanayi Chipanga.

“I was disturbed to discover that all the schools in Makoni West constituency were lagging behind in terms of technological transfer and advancement hence my decision to approach Potraz for assistance. We are happy that Potraz responded positively to the request to assist some of the schools,” she said.

“We want our schools to move with times as technology is now an unavoidable day-to-day issue. Whether one is in an urban or rural area, technological gadgets like phones and computers are now a must for ease in communication and doing business.

“Every school in the constituency must have a computer lab and we are working round the clock to achieve that. Our pupils must use laptops to carry out research in their different learning areas. They are also a resource for teachers to harness further information that may not be in the text books,” said Cde Chitura.

Tsanzaguru head Mr Maxwell Mutudza said the school was grateful for the donation.

He said it could not have come at a better time as the 56 computers at the school were damaged by lightning.

“We are very grateful to Potraz and Cde Chitura for the laptops. They are going to help solve the challenge we had following the damage to our computers by lightning. We will guard them jealously and put them to good use,” said Mr Mutuza.
