Youth leader loses $6 000

- Nyore Madzianike Manicaland Bureau

ZANU- PF Manicaland province youth leader Mr Tawanda Mukodza reportedly lost more than $6 000 to four members of the youth wing in Mutare’s central business district (CBD).

The quartet — Albert Marima (39), Gilbert Buzuzi (35), Lucia Kunyangura ( 33) and Nyasha Blessing Mutenje (28) — have since appeared before a Mutare court charged with theft .

However, they were all not asked to plead to charges when they appeared before Mutare magistrate Mr Lazarus Murendo, who remanded them out of custody to May 23 on $300 bail each.

Prosecutor Mr Fletcher Karombe told the court that on May 7, Mukodza parked his car, a Land Rover Discovery at Mutare Main Post Office and placed $6 100 in the back pocket of the driver’s seat.

The court heard that while seated in the car, Buzuzi and Kunyangara joined him.

Buzuzi reportedly sat in the front passenger’s seat, while Kunyangara took one of the back passenger seats.

They were later joined by Marima and Mutenje.

After a while, Marima, who was seated behind the driver’s seat, reportedly disembarked from Mukodza’s vehicle.

When Mukodza tried to retrieve his money from where he had put it in order to buy food for Buzuzi, Kunyangara and Mutenje, he discovered that it was missing.

He quizzed the trio over the missing money, but they professed ignorance over its whereabouts.

Mukodza made a police report, leading to the quartet’s arrest.
