Kazembe calls for unity

ZANU-PF Mashonaland Central provincial leadership has called on party members to unite and ensure the party’s victory in the forthcoming harmonised elections.

Addressing a Zanu-PF rally in Mvurwi on Sunday, provincial chairman, Cde Kazembe Kazembe, said members should bury the hatchet and rally party cadres who won the recently held primary elections.

“I have come here to remind you that it is high time we unite as cadres and forget what happened during the primaries,” he said. “I am hearing that there are some of you who have not yet accepted the outcome of our primaries.

“For me, it was tough in my constituency where I almost lost in the primaries.

“The party is supreme and we should all work towards its victory.”

Speaking at the same occasion, Politburo member, Cde Perrance Shiri, said: “If you fail to work with others you will not succeed in life.

“Your evil deeds will always follow you. The events of last November were a result of people who thought they were now bigger than the party.

“The army had to intervene to restore normalcy in the country. I want the chairman to check on all contestants who participated in the primaries who have absented themselves from this rally so that I can take their names to the top.” Among those who failed to attend the rally was Minister of State for Mashonaland Central Provincial Affairs, Cde Martin Dinha, who lost the primary election for the Mazowe North seat to Cde Campion Mugweni.

Another Politburo member, Cde Kenneth Musanhi warned Ward Four councillor, Cllr Michael Mutopa not to work against Cde Mugweni.

“I want Mutopa to be part of our candidate Cde Mugweni’s campaign team,” he said. “Unbecoming behaviour is not accepted in the party.

“We are hearing that he is working with one of the losing candidates to undermine the winning candidate and this should stop.”

The rally was also attended by Chief Makope, the party provincial leadership and candidates for the harmonised elections set for July 30.
