Dancehall chanter in studio with Tryson Chimbetu SOUL Jah Love’s love for dendera music seems deeper than his collaboration with Suluman Chimbetu titled “Nyuchi” could have proved.

The dancehall chanter has accepted a call for his second dendera duet and this time he is working with Suluman’s cousin Tryson.

Tryson is collaborating with Soul Jah Love on a track to feature on the former’s album titled “Kana Mazogara” that is set to be launched at the end of the month in the capital.

The dendera musician said he was happy to collaborate with the dancehall star.

“The song is likely to be a hit. Soul Jah Love is not new to the dendera fraternity as he collaborated with my brother Suluman Chimbetu on song ‘Nyuchi’ and fans loved it. We are already working on the song and he is doing his best,” said Tryson.

He hailed the dancehall musician for being committed to working with different musicians in the country.

IN AN effort to showcase his talent, rising author Tinashe Nyandoro has published his first book, “Ndakaitei”, for free on social media. Using Facebook and WhatsApp as media for publishing his text, Nyandoro, who is also known as Siv Beats, has managed to reach an audience that has received the text positively.

In an interview, Nyandoro said he decided to release his first book for free because he wanted to create readership at the beginning of his career.

“The reason behind my online free publication was to rate my work and to reach out to as many people as possible. I also saw online publication as the best platform to build my name.

“I am hoping to become a wellknown author as well as an actor who will earn a living out of art one day. My main goal is to attract as many readers as I can,” said Nyandoro.

ate about the industry. I am happy that he is determined to work with any musician in the country. He is easy to work with and has the talent,” he said.

Soul Jah Love said he will not talk much about the song, but encouraged fans to wait for its release.

Tryson said his album is almost done. He is working with two producers, Munya Vhiyali and Oskid.

“We have mixed digital and live recording so as to come with different sounds. We have also managed to come up with short but meaningful songs,” he said.

Chimbetu, whose last album “Ballon D’or” did not make much impact on the local market, believes he will strike the right chord with the upcoming release.

“As musicians there are times we misfire, but you always go back to the drawing board and come up with something different,” he said.

“We want to keep working hard. We have set tough goals for ourselves this year and they have to be achieved.” AFTER successfully touring different continents, multi award-winning local feature film “Mind Games” finally premièred at SterKinekor, Eastgate, Harare.

The film, which has a total cast of 10 people, is a psychological thriller set in the modern day Zimbabwe that unravels the complexities of human thought and emotion. Apart from remuneration of the cast, which was negotiated in different ways, the movie’s production cost reached $380.

“We wanted to make a film with resources available. Locally, there have been a lot of complaints about lack of money and other resources to make good films. I then decided to specifically write a film that is designed to use very little resources. Our initial budget was $500 but we ended up using $380,” said Charles Mawungwa, the film director.

The film has been showing around the world at various festivals where it has also grabbed accolades.

“I am really humbled with the way this production has been received at various festivals in different continents. It shows how we have improved as local film producers and come up with productions that match international standards,” said Mawungwa.

In December last year, the movie scooped the best narrative feature award at the Calcutta International Cult Film Festival in India.

From there, it bagged the Best Edited film award in Columbia at the Five Continents International Film Festival

It was also a finalist at the Stars Hollywood Film Festivals and Los Angeles Film Festival.

Locally, the film won Best Feature Film and Best Actor awards at the Zimbabwe International Film Festival.

It stars Kevin Hanssen who plays the lead role of Ex, a genius psychopath who takes Sam through a series of tests that accidentally force Sam to revisit his dark secrets and resolve his personal demons.

Mawungwa has been in the film industry for over a decade and worked on a number of award-winning films among them “The Search” which won Best Short Film Project in 2006.

He has also been involved in the production of over 50 documentaries and awareness videos for United Nations organisations.
