Political tolerance alive in Zimbabwe

- Tyson Gatsi, Harare.

EDITOR — What happened on Tuesday was historic. Allowing the opposition to march in the Harare CBD has never happened before.

During the previous administration, we all know what could have happened. Just a few hours and people were done marching.

In the past this was unheard of and people could have been tear-gassed, beaten and arrested.

The demos were chaotic and very often led to injury of people and destruction of property. Truth be told, President Mnangagwa is the best there is now. He has a different way of doing things and he is winning hearts.

Some people may be naïve to admit this, but this is the leader that we want for the country to progress.

There are a lot of things that President Mnangagwa is doing that Mr Mugabe failed to do.

It is always good to hear people discussing politics freely without fear. Freedom of expression is genuinely embraced. ED has my vote all the way.

What else can we say about the new administration? It is also good to note that the opposition seem to have moved away from its politics of violence.

I am hoping it was not a once-off thing on Tuesday. This spirit must go on.

As elections draw nearer, I hope no Zimbabwean will lose life, limb or property.
