Big day for Macheso:

- Godwin Muzari Arts Editor

He has termed it “album launch”, but it is likely to turn out to be a celebration of the album.

ALICK Macheso’s new release “Dzinosvitsa Kure” that was released on Wednesday has been received well by his fans and tonight the musician stages the album launch at Aquatic Complex in Chitungwiza.

But instead of introducing the album to the people, the event is likely to be a celebration of a good product from Macheso.

The show will be a party throughout the night considering that it will also mark Macheso’s birthday and Orchestra Mberikwazvo 20th anniversary celebrations.

Currently, stories about Macheso in most public spaces are centred on the new album.

Within a day of its release, many people had endorsed the album. And it is indeed a good album that is set to shake the showbiz scene in a big way.

It is an album that is likely to bring back the good old days of Orchestra Mberikwazvo. It surpasses the previous two releases.

Macheso is back on track and he will definitely shame sungura critics. Songs “Pfuma Yacho”, “Kudzwai” and “Vane Zvavanoda” are set to make waves.

So, when he launches the album tonight people will be singing along to the new tracks. “Dzinosvitsa Kure” does not need a launch anymore, it needs a celebration party.

And to help Macheso celebrate at Aquatic Complex would be fellow singers Jah Prayzah, Leonard Zhakata, Sniper Storm and Faheem Somanje.

It will be a mixed bag of music at the venue that has been known as Macheso’s homeground for many years.

Besides housing Macheso’s offices and studio, Aquatic Complex played a major role in enhancing the musician’s dominance.

He used to single-handedly fill the venue to capacity and similar numbers are likely to be witnessed tonight.

People have been waiting for the album and now they are dancing to it.

Tonight they will see the Orchestra Mberikwazvo team displaying choreography that goes with the new tracks.

The album has been selling like hot cakes and tonight everyone who buys a ticket to the show will get a CD.

The musician’s publicist Tich Makahamadze said the show will officially introduce the album to the people.

“We decided to have the launch after the release of the album so that people will come to the show with an idea of what to expect,” said Makahamadze. “We are happy with the response to the album and we are expecting a great show.

It is likely to be a full house and we will definitely do our best to entertain our fans. It is always good to have such big event. We have made it a three-inone event to ensure we have all colours of merrymaking.

“The band will be in exceptional mood as we celebrate 20 years of Orchestra Mberikwazvo, Macheso will be celebrating his birthday and fans will be getting to feel the new product on stage. It will be a memorable night.”

Jah Prayzah will bring his contemporary sound to the stage and show his capacity while Zhakata is likely to take people down memory lane with his old hits.

Sniper Storm will represent the dancehall fraternity while Faheem stands for youthful sungura singers that are following the footsteps of their elders. It will be an exciting package.
