Register for Command Fisheries, youths urged

- Chinhoyi Bureau

YOUTHS in Mashonaland West Province have been urged to register for Command Fisheries, which is expected to benefit thousands of Zimbabweans.

Zanu-PF Youth League national deputy secretary for Development and Indigenisation Cde Mike Chimombe told youths in Mhangura that they should embrace Government-initiated empowerment programmes.

“The Command Agriculture programme, which was spearheaded by His Excellency Cde Emmerson Mnangagwa was and will always remain a success although some youths have not benefited because they do not possess offer letters,” he said. “The leadership, however, introduced Command Fisheries, which is expected to open doors to financial success for thousands of youths. So, you should grab the opportunity with both hands.”

Cde Chimombe said there were a lot of dams and water bodies in Mashonaland West where youths could embark on the Command Fisheries project.

“We have a lot of dams in this province, which should also be used for Command Fisheries and youths should go in their numbers to join,” he said.

“As we speak, hundreds of youths in Mashonaland East and Manicaland have so far benefited.”

Cde Chimombe said Government was providing breeding fish free of charge, which removes the need for collateral and capital that has constrained most youths.

“Cde (Oppah) Muchinguri’s Ministry (Environment, Water and Climate) has a lot of fingerlings and only youths that are willing to go into fish farming are going to benefit,” he said.
