Bloom where you are planted

-

AT times the LORD allows captivity or bondage in our lives, He sends us out in exile. The common tendency is to fight the circumstance and want to return to the former. We are somehow led to believe that where we are coming from is where we should be going back to.

Yet sometimes the LORD can allow for us to be taken into captivity or exiled for a while, like He did with the children of Israel. He told them through His servant prophet, that they would be there for seventy years and that while they were there, they should live. Jeremiah 29 vs 4–8 says

“This is what the LORD Almighty, the God of Israel, says to all those I carried into exile from Jerusalem to Babylon: “Build houses and settle down; plant gardens and eat what they produce. Marry and have sons and daughters; find wives for your sons and give your daughters in marriage, so that they too may have sons and daughters. Increase in numbers there; do not decrease. Also, seek the peace and prosperity of the city to which I have carried you into exile. Pray to the Lord for it, because if it prospers, you too will prosper”. Yes, this is what the LORD Almighty, the God of Israel, says.” The same applies to us today, wherever we have been taken, it may not be our place of choice, but let us endeavor to make the best of it until the LORD raises us up to go to the next station. So many people spend so much time fighting the reality of where they are, rather than living it out and making the best of it. For a time you may be where you don’t want to be but soon and very soon, it will end.

Be blessed.
