IT WILL be all work and no play this weekend for three of Zimbabwe’s top junior and senior motocross riders Emmanuel Bako, Jayden Ashwell and Davin Cocker as they head out to Johannesburg to prepare for Round Four of the 2018 South African National Championship series.

Round Four of this year’s tough seven-round South African National Championship series will be staged on July 7 at Terra Topia which is situated in the Northern Farms of the Diepsloot area of Johannesburg and this one-day event will bring together all the top junior and senior motocross riders from across South Africa.

They will be joined by a number of top junior and senior riders from Zimbabwe who have entered to compete in this year’s South African Nationals and they include Bako, Ashwell and Cocker.

In this year’s South African Nationals, Bako is competing in the 65cc and 85cc (Juniors) classes while the country’s senior champion rider Ashwell is racing in the main MX1 Class which is just a rung above Cocker’s 125cc High School Class.

And the three talented Zimbabweans will, this Saturday, take part in a pre-national club event which will be held at Terra Topia as part of their preparations for “the big one” - Round Four of the 2018 South African National Championship series that is set to be staged at the same venue on July 7.

Bako’s father and manager, Brighton, yesterday confirmed to The Herald that his son will be joined at this Saturday’s pre-national club event at Terra Topia by his two fellow countrymen Ashwell and Cocker as they familiarise with the north Johannesburg track ahead of next weekend’s Round Four of the South African Nationals.

“We are going to Terra Topia this Saturday to compete in a club event and there will be a big turnout of riders as it is a pre-national competition.

‘’We are approaching the crucial stages of this year’s South African National Championship series and we are not taking any chances; and that is why the boys are going to Johannesburg this weekend to familiarise with the track conditions at Terra Topia.
