- Prince Mukuna Herald Reporter

NINETY-FIVE Zimbabwe National Army officers graduated at Parachute Regiment on Friday after successfully completing a 20-week long Section Commanders Tactics course.

Presiding over the graduation ceremony, Commander Headquarters Harare District, Colonel Hardison Muchemwa, urged the graduates to be vigilant.

He said 100 students initially enrolled for the course, but five dropped out due to various reasons.

“Four students were dropped from the course on medical grounds, while the other could not sail through due to indiscipline,” said Col Muchemwa.

“I want to commend the commanding officer Parachute Regiment for the gesture of oneness, further to that I also want to thank him for allowing the course to be run here.

“To the graduands, the certificates you have been awarded here are only the beginning of the experience that is lying ahead of you.”

Col Muchemwa said urged the graduates to defend the country’s independence.

“Let me also take this opportunity to remind you all to remain vigilant at all times and guard jealously the hard won independence and preserve the struggle as reflected by Operation Restore Legacy, which was carried out by Zimbabwe Defence Forces which ushered a new political era for Zimbabwe,” he said.

“As we approach harmonised elections to be conducted on 30 July, 2018, you must remain alert, suspicious and inquisitive in order to deter and defeat any hostile acts by our country’s despondence within military rank and file.

“On that note, I urge you not to be married to social media platforms as the army has its own vibrant traditional lines of communication, which do not peddle falsehoods.”
