ED has youths at heart: Togarepi
ZANU-PF Youth League secretary Cde Pupurai Togarepi has commended President Mnangagwa for opening the Empower Bank (Youth Bank), saying the initiative will empower future leaders of Zimbabwe.
Cde Togarepi was addressing Zanu-PF youths from the party’s eastern region during a Youth Convention held in Chivhu recently.
The eastern region was made up of youths from Mashonaland East, Manicaland and Masvingo provinces for the purposes of the convention.
The aim of the convention was to emphasise the endorsement of President Mnangagwa at regional level and to mobilise support for the party.
In his remarks, Cde Togarepi said the President was engaging in numerous youth empowerment programmes and for that and other reasons, youths should
Cde Togarepi said youths should continue mobilising support for the party and condemned other political parties for trying to control Zimbabwe Electoral Commission (ZEC) operations.
“We want our party to win, so let us mobilise more support,” he said. “Other political parties are busy locking horns with ZEC every day. Maybe they want ZEC to vote for them, they forget that ZEC is an independent entity.
“Come July 30, we will defeat them and obviously they will cry. How can they even get a vote when they are wasting time on ZEC.”
Cde Togarepi said some parties were threatening to boycott the elections because they were afraid of losing.
“Some mathematicians in the opposition parties have done the calculations and discovered that they will not win and they are now thinking of boycotting,” he said.
