‘Zanu-PF poised for victory’

- Walter Mswazie Masvingo Correspondent

ZANU-PF is poised for a clean sweep in all National Assembly seats in Masvingo in the forthcoming harmonised elections slated for July 30, an official has said.

The party’s chief whip Cde Lovemore Matuke said a lot of ground had been covered as candidates were not leaving any stone unturned campaigning for President Mnangagwa, National Assembly and council candidates.

He said from the assessment he made, the party had an upper hand ahead of other opposition candidates in all constituencies and nothing would stop the ruling party from retaining its dominance.

Zanu-PF had a clean sweep in 2013 harmonised elections as the party won all 26 seats contested.

“We had a meeting with all aspiring MPs from which we got feedback on the progress since we are campaigning,” said Cde Matuke.

“I am convinced that the party has high chances of winning all 26 National Assembly seats in Masvingo province.”

Cde Matuke said he was satisfied with the campaign and all the candidates had adequate resources to reach out to their supporters.

“The party has managed to provide all districts with vehicles and enough fuel for its activities and candidates have also received theirs,” he said.

“This will go a long way in making sure that they reach out to supporters. From the information we have gathered as senior members, nothing can stop us from maintaining our dominance in the province.”

Cde Matuke said the Zanu-PF Government had lined up a number of empowerment projects in the province that would benefit the youths and women.

He said President Mnangagwa was going to fulfil all his election promises and urged party members to vote in their numbers so as to protect the country’s legacy and sovereignty.
