Mash East has your vote, Matiza assures ED Independent candidate hails President’s call
ZANU-PF chairman for Mashonaland East Province and Murehwa South National Assembly candidate Cde Joel Biggie Matiza has assured President Mnangagwa of an 85 percent win in the coming harmonised elections.
Cde Matiza made the remarks in his welcome message to the President at a rally held outside Rudhaka Stadium on Saturday afternoon where thousands of party supporters in the province were gathered to be addressed by the President.
“Your Excellency, the province is satisfied and is in support of your vision, the people of Mashonaland East are saying we will give you our vote and I assure you of 85 percent victory,” he said.
Cde Matiza said the new dispensation has brought hope to the people of Zimbabwe with President Mnangagwa’s “Zimbabwe is Open for Business” mantra yielding positive results.
“We do not know much of what is happening in Harare, but we hear that hotels are always fully booked by foreign investors who want to do business in Zimbabwe, this is all because of the new dispensation’s policies,” he said.
He said the re-engagement path taken by President Mnangagwa is commendable, saying a nation is better when in good relations with other nations than in isolation.
“The re-engagement exercise is commendable, we want to be in good books with everyone. Also we as a province are in support of your call for a peaceful election, we want peace in our province, MUREHWA South independent National Assembly candidate Mr Noah Mangondo yesterday commended Zimbabweans for taking heed of President Mnangagwa’s call for peaceful campaigns.
Mr Mangondo also applauded the new dispensation for ensuring a level field for political players to lure voters ahead of the 2018 harmonised elections to be held on July 30.
Addressing supporters at a rally held at Virginia Business Centre in Murehwa South constituency on Sunday, Mr Mangondo urged his supporters to continue respecting President Mnangagwa’s call for a peaceful campaign. He said a peaceful campaign ensures peaceful voting and credible elections.
“If you meet any person with an intention to cause violence, leave them. If they intimidate you, leave them, just fight them in the ballot box next week. Always remember what the Head of State President Mnangagwa has told you, shun violence at all costs, let’s support that call for a credible election,” he said.
we want peace in our nation and because of that we will vote for you,” he said.
Cde Matiza urged party supporters to be calm and tolerant as the nation heads for the harmonised
“As you all know, we are in support of a leader who preaches peace, not someone who incites violence and so far President ED is doing the right things by appealing to Zimbabweans to shun violence, so let us do exactly that.” He urged his supporters to support a leader with a vision for development, experience and maturity.
“We all want development, and we all want Murehwa South to be developed as soon as possible. We want business to come to Murehwa.
“So I call upon all of you to vote for the only man who has opened this country for business and you all know him,” he said.
elections.
“Be calm and be tolerant, always remember that a peaceful election is an credible one, an incredible election would be a major step to our development. I have no doubt
Mr Mangondo urged Murehwa South Constituency to mobilise more support for him and vote for him saying he will represent them well once in Parliament.
“If you want to be represented well, represent me well come July 30. I promise you, if you do that, your lives will be transformed, this area will be the best area in the province,” he said.
He urged his supporters to embrace Government programmes like the successful Command Agriculture and condemned those who use political muscle in distributing Presidential inputs, saying the criteria favours some members of certain political parties.
“Agriculture is the backbone of our economy, the ongoing Command Agriculture initiative will prove it. You must embrace it, join the programme and contribute to national development.
“I received complaints from some of you that the distribution of inputs under the Presidential Inputs Scheme is politicised, that some of you were not given the inputs simply because you support me, that is a sabotage to the President’s vision and I will make investigations on that urgently. “
that all of us will do the right thing on July 30 and make Mashonaland East a Zanu-PF province.”
He said there must be a resounding victory for the party come July 30. THE Nelson Chamisa-led Alliance council candidate for Marondera Central (Ward 10) yesterday appeared in court for allegedly forging signatures on his nomination papers which he submitted at the Nomination Court last month.
Jim Jalifu successfully filed his nomination papers for Ward 10 in Marondera after forging party official, Gilbert Kabodora’s signature.
On the same day, it is alleged that Kabodora, who was one of the signatories for the MDC-Alliance, received information that Jalifu had fraudulently obtained his signature.
It is further alleged on June 15, Kabodora approached the presiding officer at the Nomination Court, Ms Spiwe Chavhunduka, and together inspected Jalifu’s nomination papers.
They both established that the nomination papers filed by Jalifu contained scanned signatures of Kabodora and Revai Muguti.
The court heard that Kabodora reported the matter to the police who retrieved Jalifu’s papers from the Zimbabwe Electoral Commission (ZEC). He is facing charges of fraud. However, Jalifu denied the charges levelled against him when he appeared before Marondera Magistrate Mr Arnold Maburu.
He argued that he had no reason to forge signatures since he resoundingly won the right to be the candidate for the ward after winning the party’s primary elections.
Jalifu argued further that he received the nomination papers from Kabodoro, who had already signed them before the nomination day. He was remanded to July 27, for continuation of trial.
Courage Chakawa prosecuted.
