Vote for progress, prosperity: Magumise

- Sydney Mubaiwa Masvingo Correspondent

ZANU-PF Masvingo director of the commissariat Cde Roger Magumise has implored Zimbabweans to go out in their numbers and vote for the party in next week’s harmonised elections to ensure economic emancipation.

He made the remarks while addressing hundreds of party supporters at a rally held in Masvingo North Constituency on Sunday afternoon.

“We are now in a new dispensation under the leadership of President Mnangagwa, where the main focus is to open the country for business and investment,” he said.

“Since he got into office (President), he has been working around the clock with his team in fighting corruption, creating jobs and re-aligning to an investor friendly trajectory that leads to economic growth. For the country to successfully achieve all these initiatives, we should vote for the revolutionary party that already has history of delivering the people’s demands and needs. Let me also commend all Zanu-PF supporters for campaigning peacefully for our party and our Presidential, parliamentary and local authority candidates. Your dedication and support will lead to a landslide victory. The sense of unity I have noticed here has given me assurance that Masvingo North seat is ours”.

He said there was no need for Zanu-PF supporters to engage in any form of politically related violence since the party was primed to collect everything on offer.

“We should not give our opponents chances of winning. We are going to win in a way that they will give us presents to congratulate us soon after the announcement of results,” he said.

Cde Magumise said the party members should remain vigilant and stay united at the same time spreading messages of peace and political tolerance.

He said it was very critical for Zimbabweans to maintain a conducive environment for the country to successfully hold free and fair elections, which is a major boost for economic development.

“To achieve development, prosperity and progress in the country, we should take a cue from the President’s call for a non-violent polls.

“No investment will come in a violence-infested environment and, therefore, let’s all remain peaceful,” he said.

Cde Magumise said the ruling Zanu-PF party is driven by the ideology of servant leadership, where its leaders are elected by God to serve the people.

“It is our collective responsibility as Zimbabweans to transform our economy towards middle-income states by 2030. Let us all join hands and restore our dignity through voting for peace, unity and development,” he said.
