Defunct bar turned into clinic
MBIZO National Assembly member Cde Vongaishe Mpereri last week handed over a new clinic and two ambulances he sourced for his constituency to the Ministry of Health and Child Care.
The clinic was refurbished at a cost of $80 000 after Cde Mpereri approached Kwekwe City Council which agreed to turn a defunct council bar into a clinic.
Speaking during the handover ceremony, Minister of Health and Child Care Dr David Parirenyatwa who was the guest of honour commended Cde Mpereri for his commitment to improving health services in the constituency. Dr Parirenyatwa urged Kwekwe residents to vote for development minded people like Cde Mpereri.
“There are very few MPs who are like Cde Mpereri who spend most of his time funding projects for the people in his constituency,” he said.
“I understand for the whole project to be completed, there was $80 000, which we poured in and part of it was the Community Development Fund from Parliament.”
Dr Parirenyatwa applauded Kwekwe city council for prioritising health issues by donating a council bar for a worthy cause.
“I think other local authorities should emulate Kwekwe City Council,” he said. “It is one of the few cities in the country, which prioritise health issues. The city has never recorded any disease outbreak even during the cholera outbreak that rocked the country at the height of economic challenges.”
Dr Parirenyatwa took advantage of the clinic and ambulance handover ceremony to implore thousands of Kwekwe residents who had gathered for the event to vote resoundingly for the ruling Zanu-PF party in the harmonised elections.
He said President Mnangagwa has a clearly outlined economic turnaround vision, which has already started bearing positive results.
He said the President deserves a full term to fully implement his vision.
“The country is now in the right direction and with the clear vision that our President has, the country is poised for an economic boom,” said Dr Parirenyatwa. “So, let’s go out all in our numbers and vote for President Mnangagwa in the elections.”
