Actor starts sanitary wear campaign

ONE of Zimbabwe’s actors Donovan Takaendesa (23) has launched a campaign to promote the use and access of sanitary wear by the girl child.

The campaign named “One million pad campaign” is an initiative of Hacsan a Canadian organisati­on and was launched in Masvingo on Monday afternoon.

Takaendesa, who owns Don Claude Entertainm­ent, once represente­d Zimbabwe’s film industry in Hollywood in 2015 on ZICOPA the programme will run under the theme “Help a Child Save a Nation”.

He said the programme would see him doing a lot of charity work to raise awareness on issues of access to sanitary ware by the girl child.

“I drew my inspiratio­n from fellow actors, the world over, who are rolling out a number of charity programmes to help people in their respect9ve communitie­s.

“This work will only be a success based on partnershi­ps with all those who have a passion to help save the nation. It is important that people speak with one voice to raise awareness and proffering solutions to some of our social challenges,” said Mr Takaendesa. Don Claude Entertainm­ent chief executive officer, Millard Kature said his organisati­on had a social responsibi­lity mandate to give back to the community. He said they intend to save a girl child and inform people about sanitary wear.

“It’s our mandate to give back to the community through charity and we are trying our best, and this campaign is directed to the needy members in our communitie­s, especially a girl child.

“We want to help and inform the world and create awareness and inform everyone about the importance of sanitary wear and its necessity to the girl child,” he said.

The “One million pad campaign” is the first of its kind initiative to be rolled out by Don Claude Entertainm­ent since its formation last year.
