Aspiring MP pledges to restore Kadoma’s golden days
KADOMA Central House of Assembly independent candidate Mr Solomon Tembo wants to superintend the construction of roads that can last for a long time.
In an interview recently, Mr Tembo said he was also disturbed by the old houses in Rimuka and Ingezi suburbs and would want to see them destroyed and replaced by new ones.
He also believes that he is the best candidate eyeing Mashonaland West’s capital city. Roads are extremely vital in the development and functionality of an economy as there are the gateway to connecting communities.
“Well-constructed and maintained roads bring about easy flow of traffic for commuters and businesspeople, boosting the economic activities, while also providing safety to the road users and durability to the vehicles.
“As an MP for Kadoma Central, I pledge to make sure that roads are redesigned and constructed to international standards and to last a lifetime,” Mr Tembo said.
He said there was an urgent need to demolish 1 200 single quarters and general blocks in Kadoma’s oldest residential areas Rimuka and Ingezi.
“There is no way in this modern world people should be living under such conditions. It’s pathetic and inhuman for any individual to experience such kind of life,” he said.
“These people are sharing toilets with no water and zero sanitation at all. I do not know if any of our officials would even dream of living under such circumstances, worse sharing one room with the rest of the family.”
Mr Tembo said efforts by Mayor Muchineripi Chinyanganya to source funding for the project had been frustrated by party politics.
“An independent legislator for Kadoma is quite ideal and is the only one capable of transforming and building a better Kadoma,” he declared.
He reiterated the need for proper infrastructure to build a strong economy. “In Zimbabwe and in Kadoma, in particular, we have the money, intelligence and most importantly, the manpower. When we remove corruption and greed, all these aspects can be brought together to bring the change we need by giving those who are able, jobs to build better roads, houses and any other structures we need in our community,” he said.
Mr Tembo also declared that Kadoma needed him for it to develop.
“I am going to bring my diversity and international knowledge to make sure that Kadoma will be seen as the beautiful city that it once was and to make it much, much better.”
Mr Tembo, who was born and bred in the city, was based in United States.
“I was an Allentown, USA mayoral candidate and decided to run for the Member of Parliament seat in my home town of Kadoma,” he said.
“I want to bring change and restore this city to its old golden days when my late father was part of development team under Mayor Kidias.”
Mr Tembo’s father was a well-known teacher in Kadoma who contributed to the building new toilets and roads for Kadoma residents.
