- Martha Leboho Herald Correspondent

ZANU-PF National Assembly candidate for Masvingo South Cde Claudious Maronge has expressed confidence of victory in today’s harmonised elections to cement the ruling party’s dominance in the constituency.

Cde Maronge said the ruling party election machinery has been in full swing in Masvingo South where the stage was set for an emphatic victory for President Mnangagwa and other party candidates vying for local authority slots.

He told The Herald in an interview that Masvingo South remained a no go area for the opposition owing to overwhelming support for the ruling party in the constituency.

The ruling party’s visibility across the constituency was also visible compared to other political players hence Cde Maronge’s high hopes of clinching victory.

“The ZANU-PF Government has overwhelming support in Masvingo South because of its people-centred policies and people in Masvingo South are particularly happy with infrastructural development projects that have been undertaken in the constituency.”

He said historically the people of Masvingo South have enjoyed a close relationship with ZANU-PF.

“I am confident that ZANU-PF will sweep clean everything right from council elections to the National Assembly and the Presidency. Masvingo South is an undisputed ZANU-PF stronghold,” he said.

Masvingo South constituency has 19 680 registered voters.
