ARTISTES have commended the peaceful July 30 electoral process and urged the nation to remain peaceful and calm as the results are announced.

Their plea comes in the wake of unsanctioned demonstrations by MDC Alliance supporters in the Harare central business district (CBD) yesterday.

Fashion stylist and image consultant, Trish Carmen said peace should continue to prevail.

She said whether one’s party has won or lost, the nation should remain peaceful.

“Peace is an important aspect of our lifestyle and we as a nation have done so well with regards to peace. A lot of nations admired and respected us for managing to get what we desired as a nation in a peaceful manner. Peace is our strength and let’s maintain that strength within us,” she said.

Film director and cinematoprapher Joe Njagu, said he was proud of how Zimbabweans conducted themselves during the elections.

He said the level of political maturity in terms of maintaining peace was impressive.

Njagu urged Zimbabweans to maintain peace until the end of the process.

“This is our future and we should not have demonstrations, stampede or war during the election results. I am so proud to be a Zimbabwean right now, seeing how the atmosphere was so peaceful during the election period. Keep it up my fellow Zimbos and peace to all and let it continue,” he said.

Gospel singer Matthias Mhere, said he was happy with how Zimbabweans turned out for the harmonised elections.

The “Favour” singer encouraged Zimbabweans to remain calm and accept the results as they are and continue to pray.

“Let us pray for our nation. Let me also take this opportunity to congratulate you Zimbabweans for the peaceful elections. We should continue to remain like that and accept the results as they come.

Remember everything we do God is in it,” he said.

Zim Gossip Modelling agent founder Mercy Mushaninga said the nation should continue to pray for peace.

“Personally, I pray for peace every day. We are one family and we must be soldiers of peace. Peace lies in the hearts and minds of the people. We are one people in Zimbabwe and everyone is related somewhere either through politics, religion, totem or village,” she said.

Musician Cindy Munyavi said Zimbabweans should start practicing peace from home so that it spreads in the streets, especially during this time.

“Peace begins with me, peace begins with you and then it spreads to all of us. May the Holy Spirit calm us internally that way, so that the Spirit of peace will manifest in the physical? We should unite not fight,” said the ‘Setter Pace’ hit-maker.

Two days before the 2018 harmonised elections, other Zimbabwean artistes, called for peaceful electoral participation when they held a peace march from Jason Moyo Avenue to Glamis Arena.
