Kazembe hails team work
ZANU-PF provincial chairperson Cde Kazembe Kazembe said Mashonaland Central surpassed its performance in the 2013 election and attributed team work from cell level to Politburo members for the impressive votes for President Mnangagwa and retaining all 18 National Assembly seats.
Speaking at an evaluation meeting by the provincial executive committee Cde Kazembe said they have agreed to restructure cells to make the party stronger.
“We performed better than 2013 elections in all aspects. We retained 18 seats for our MPs and for the presidential results we had the highest in the entire country 366 000 votes for the President,” said Cde Kazembe.
“We worked together as a team regardless of whether one is a Politburo, national consultative assembly and central committee member. We incorporated everyone into the team and everyone felt important in their own right and that gave us results.
“Everyone was on the ground including war veterans. As a team we were not arrogant, we listened to reports.
“When we were told of challenges in a specific area we would go and talk to the people and convince them that Zanu-PF is the way to go, we targeted the red areas.
“As leadership we all work as one team, we sit down and agree on the way forward. It was that spirit that made us win. We also felt that there are certain areas where we could have done better like Mt Darwin North and Mazowe Central.
“As we move forward we need to go back to our structures. We have no time to waste we need to do our restructuring now to ensure that our cells are in order.
“We targeted all 18 seats and we won we are happy that the President won.
“We are given to being the best, we always want to try and surpass our performance.”
He said the meeting was just a post mortem to review challenges the party faced in the just ended harmonised elections.
“We have agreed with the MPs that we have no time to waste, we need to go back and fulfil the promises we made to the people. We must be always on the ground and with our people and listen to their problems,” he said.
“Whether you voted for us or not this is our province and we all belong here. We need to come together and work for our province and the nation.
“The Constitution says there is going to be devolution of power and the President said each and every province will contribute to the Gross Domestic Product, this requires all of us. We have the responsibility to develop our province.”
