Kadoma embarks on recruitment drive

KADOMA City Council is planning to beef up its enforcement and engineering departments by recruiting at least six police constables and seven plant attendants.

The latest move by council is in line with the Government’s thrust of creating direct jobs and reviving the country’s economy.

The town clerk Mr Malvern Dondo announced the vacancies in a notice issued last week.

“Applications are invited from suitable qualified and experienced people to fill the above vacancies that have risen within the security section, he said.

“The job entails guarding of council premises and property, enforcement of council by-laws and control of market vendors.”

The notice further states that part of the expectations for the security personnel would be that of manning and collection of bus entry fees at bus terminus and cash in transit operations.

Mr Dondo described the expectations for the plant attendants.

“The job entails performing housekeeping duties and cleaning of tanks of channels, desludging clarifies, carrying chemicals to the required place and removing weeds and bulrush from ponds,” he said.

The notice has already attracted a lot of attention among the residents who are already expecting better times ahead.

“This shows that we are headed in the right direction at least for now, recruitment of 13 employees will go a long way in assisting the beneficiaries,” said Mr Samuel Tiviki, a resident.

“We just hope that the selection process will not be partisan or based on nepotism.

“Above all we are delighted by the gesture.”
