Genuine question — what does walking out of the #SONAZW achieve for the opposition? I understand the optics bit, but when will we get out of election mode and get into work mode? There is just so much we need to do for Zimbabwe. Is this what the next five years have in store? — @NMusandu.

*** Now let’s say it here and now: Walking out of Parliament as the President is presenting his SONA is dumb and unstrategic! What do you aim to achieve by playing such a childish stunt? Nothing! Hapana! Dololo! Life goes on! — @GutuObert.

*** The MDC-Alliance MPs walking out of Parliament during the State of the Nation Address was rather ill-advised and evidently miscalculated as they ended up coming back only to find some of their seats taken. Whatever move they make in that house must always have an endgame, they have to now wake up to reality. ED Mnangagwa is the President of Zimbabwe, ZANU-PF has a 2/ 3 majority in Parliament. This is not the time for MDC MPs to play politics, elections ended and the Concourt made its ruling. If they were sure of walking out they should not have then come back and also complained that their seats had been taken. Will they also walk out on their allowances? On lunch? On other perks like the cars and all? If they don’t then it shows all this is about them than it is about the people they claim to represent even if they choose not to attend Parliament, ZANU-PF has enough numbers to make that sitting legal. Not all of us voted for ZANU-PF yes, but they’re in charge now and we either shape up or ship out. We have a nation to build and leaders to keep accountable, not time for games. — @ advocatemnyama.

*** Imagine how stuck we would have been if the opposition actually led Zim. They are living in the past acting like children. #SONAZW. — @BeJcr.

*** I’m disappointed at #MDC legislators walking out of the #SONAZW. Are they the PARTY OF NO? — No to doing the work mandated by their voters, No to proposing and vigorously debating legislation in our Parliament, No to holding the majority accountable. No? #263Chat #Twimbos. — @ZuwaMatondo.

*** The MDC-A MPs self exclusion from Parly is good riddance to bad rubbish. Parly is better off without them. ZANU-PF has the majority required to make new laws on its own. Withdrawing benefits of the amateurs and granting them permanent self-exclusion from Parly is just cause! —@ JonesMusara.

*** I urge President @edmnangagwa to be the one handing out the 4X4 cars for MPs . . . I really want to see the MDC MPs walking away. — @KMutisi.

*** They have absconded the serious business of the House. Let them also abscond receiving cars and allowances. They don’t want to work. The Bible says “He who refuses to work, shall not eat.” — @PTChimusoro.

*** Walking out of Parliament is very juvenile, more so when you don’t walk out on the trappings of Parliament like cars and fat allowances. Nothing will be achieved and before you know it, it will be 2023 with NO reforms and then you start whining a month before an election. @matigary. — @daddyhope.

*** The MDC MPs were obviously directed by Chamisa to walk out of Parliament. How long can this protest be centred on one man? Self-centred demonstrations akin to Student Council politics. The opposition is not here to protest election results for the next 5 years. FOCUS! #Zimbabwe. — @masiemsoko.

*** The President`s speech was inspiring. He was straight to the point and thin on rhetoric. If everyone adopts the same work ethic like him, we will get far. — @Joab.
