Ramsey on the way out

-

LONDON. — Aaron Ramsey’s agent has claimed the midfielder has “no other option” but to leave English Premiership soccer side Arsenal in a series of tweets that were later deleted on social media.

The Welsh midfielder is out of contract next summer and had been locked in positive negotiations until Arsenal abruptly and unexpectedly withdrew their offer. Ramsey is now expected to leave the Emirates, though Arsenal are yet to decide if they will cash in on the 27-year-old in January or allow him to leave for nothing at the end of the season. Now Ramsey’s management agency, Avid Sports & Entertainment Group, have confirmed that he did want to remain at Arsenal until the club performed their contract U-turn. Responding to a fan who took umbrage with the announcement of a deal between Ramsey and a charter airline, the account replied: “There is nothing we can do Charlie, the club made the decision. Life goes on.”

The fan then suggested Ramsey should take heed of Alexis Sanchez’s struggles since leaving for Manchester United, having scored fewer goals in 2018 than Nacho Monreal since making the move north. Avid replied: “You’re right (the grass) isn’t always greener and he didn’t want to leave, but now there is no other option.”

Arsenal boss Unai Emery is a big fan of Ramsey, playing him in all seven of the club’s Premier League matches this season, and had expected him to be offered a new deal. It is still unknown why Arsenal pulled the plug on the renewal talks, but Ramsey will have a host of suitors and was reportedly the subject of a £50million bid from Manchester United over the summer. — Metro.
