PARLIAMENTARIANS should fulfil promises they made during their campaigns ahead of the July 30 harmonised elections, Zanu-PF national secretary for Environment and Tourism Cde Prisca Mupfumira has said.

Addressing Zanu-PF supporters during victory celebrations in Mhangura at the weekend, Cde Mupfumira urged members of the National Assembly to fully represent their constituencies for the benefit of the people.

The Senator for Makonde, who is also CHINHOYI Municipality is struggling to provide efficient service provision as residents, ratepayers and Government departments owe the city more than $40 million.

Addressing vendors and small entrepreneurs at a pre-budget consultative meeting for 2019, Chinhoyi Municipality finance director Mr Zephenia Chirarwe Environment, Tourism and Hospitality Industry Minister said the legislators should emulate President Mnangagwa who was a listening leader. “You are supposed to listen to your ward councillors as they are in direct link with the people in your constituencies. Once you get the grievances of each and every ward, it will be easy for you to approach the Politburo or ministers for assistance,” she said.

Minister Mupfumira said the Zanu-PF Government had the mandate, from the previous elections, to transform the people’s lives, hence it will do whatever it takes to achieve these goals.

She also encouraged the MPs to create vast networks to bring development in their respective areas.

“We want to see vocational training centres, good roads, clinics, schools, sound projects among other developments and this can only happen if you create good relations,” she said.

Speaking during the same event, Mhangura legislator Cde Precious Chinhamo Masango called for unity among the people in the constituency.

The occasion was also graced by Buhera East National Assembly member Cde Joseph Chinotimba, who donated 600 litres of paint for one of the schools in Mhangura.

Among the guests were Local Government, Public Works and National Housing Deputy Minister Jennifer Mhlanga, Zanu-PF Mashonaland West Women’s League chairperson Cde Tsitsi Mugabe, Zvimba North legislator Cde Marian Chombo, Hurungwe East MP Cde Ngoni Masenda, Makonde MP Cde Kindness Paradza and Hurungwe North MP Cde Ability Gandawa among others.

Mr Chirarwe said residents expect quality services, but it will be difficult without them paying for it.

“We are encouraging residents to pay so that we can improve the quality of service we offer them,” he said.

The Chinhoyi Municipality is targeting to collect $20 357 554 by the end of this year, but had only collected $4 088 367 in the first half of the year ending in June.
