THE Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) is ready to respond to the concerns, needs and aspirations of the communities to achieve socio-economic development of the people, Officer Commanding Harare Province Senior Assistant Commissioner Charles Nhete has said.

He was speaking at the official launch of the reinvigoration of the Client Service Charter in Harare yesterday.

Snr Asst Com Nhete said the ZRP will continue to work in a manner that will bring confidence to citizens in its discharge of duties.

“We commit ourselves to attend to all public order and disorder situations as demanded by the law. We obligate ourselves to handle all your situations to reduce crime. Our thrust is to attend to all scenes as quickly as possible. When you visit our stations, we pledge to attend to your worries in all ways possible,” said Snr Asst Com Nhete.

“Fighting crime is our mandate as ZRP. We will continue to fight all those who go against the will of communities. Help us to identify those who break the law so that you may live in harmony,” he said.

Snr Asst Com Nhete added that the ZRP will remain vigilant in monitoring negligent driving to reduce road traffic accidents.

“Road traffic accidents have claimed many lives throughout the country in the last few months. As police, we commit ourselves to ensuring that traffic accidents are reduced, paying more attention to unlicensed drivers, unroadyworthy vehicles and those who are careless,” he said.

Snr Asst Com Nhete said the ZRP will stand guided by the President’s principle of hard work and transparency.

Speaking during the same event, Chief Seke (Mr Stanley Chimanikire), urged the ZRP to ensure zero tolerance to corruption.

“I would like to urge you to take a leading role in the fight against corruption, hence a collective effort is required to rid the force of all members who engage in corrupt activities,” he said.
