EMERGING giants Pitbulls once again staved off the challenges of their rivals to retain pole position in the Fourth edition of the Exide Sevens Series Harare Province Rugby League tournament at Belgravia Sports Club at the weekend.

Pitbulls dismissed Mufakose 40-0 in a one sided affair before they beat Alex Sports Club 45-5 and rounded off their group games with another convincing 38-0 defeat of Harare Sports Club.

Those wins set them a date in the final against XP Horns who they beat 38-17 to take their points tally to 33 points after four weeks of action.

The top eight teams — from same results and from past weekends, will then compete for the grand final this Saturday.

Pitbulls head coach Jeffrey Madhake believes they are going to make history by winning the inaugural Exide Sevens Series after they formed the club last year.

“I think we are getting there the boys are doing well as we are improving with each passing week. We managed to reach the semi-final on the opening week and we have managed to win the last two editions on the trot.

“There is a lot of commitment from the boys and they are trying to make a name for themselves. We have managed to win the Under-21 league for the past two years which shows our seriousness.

“I am happy with the progress and thankful to our sponsors Sports for Life as well as Churchill School where most of our players come from,” said Madhake. Results:
