Rise above party politics, mayor urges Marondera residents
MARONDERA residents have been urged to rise above party politics and contribute to the transformation of Marondera into a world class town.
The call was made by Marondera Mayor Councillor Chengetai Murowa during a clean-up campaign held in Marondera recently.
Addressing stakeholders during the launch, Cllr Murowa said the issues affecting Marondera town could be resolved permanently if all stakeholders work as a unit.
“Zimbabweans are among the most educated people in Africa if not in the whole world, but our problem is we do not know where to draw the line when it comes to politics,” he said.
“I say we must rise above political interests when we are addressing issues to do with Zimbabwe, let us work together to move our nation forward.
“As Mashonaland East Province, and as Marondera Central we must work together to transform this town and our province at large, we must make it a world-class city where we enjoy everything in it.”
Cllr Murowa commended the Government for coming up with effective strategies which he said will guarantee a clean environment.
“I am glad the Government has come up with effective methods which will ensure our environment is clean and habitable, I hear that every first Friday of the !month we must do this exercise, and as the Mayor let me urge all of us to carry this message to our wards and encourage others to start doing the right things.
“Those I work with and I are very concerned about making our town and the environment a very good and pleasant place for everyone, so I appeal to the Minister of State for Mashonaland East Province Appolonia Munzverengi, our District Administrator and all responsible authorities at Marondera Municipality and all our residents to be united
“Let us work together and transform this town, we must live in a clean environment, we must leave a clean and healthy environment for the future generations,” he said.
He called on the residents to refrain from throwing litter everywhere and start being responsible.
Marondera-based Proton Bakeries donated 10 refuse bins to the cause.
