Responses to “2pc tax nets $80m a month”

The 2 percent tax was painful at first, but everybody is now paying tax including vendors. If funds generated are put into good use the nation will benefit in the long run. — Dalubuhle Nkosana.

*** This is a very good development indeed. The raised funds should be channelled to more productive sectors of the economy and also be used in clearing the Government debt. — Letty Mabhena.

*** It is such a shame when people choose to be negative. I do not understand the motivation or the objective of such negativity. If the bond is trading at 1:3 then it is stronger than the rand by a wide margin. Importantly, given that some of the Government costs are in bond notes, one cannot say that such a collection is futile, but that amount will pay salaries for Government employees.

It also deals with the budget deficit which is one of the key causes of inflation. Given the above you cannot downplay the impact of this effort. God bless Zimbabwe. — Patros Mangomazi.

Responses to “Botswana throws weight behind Zim”

The shocking thing is some among us want sanctions to continue so as to have leverage in effecting regime change. — Betty Gatsi.

*** Comrade Editor, as Zimbabweans, we are encouraged by the support we get from Sadc on the satanic sanctions issue. It’s a pity that our political opposition mongrels continue to support sanctions on the false hope that they will get votes during elections because the economic suffering. — C. Mzvinavhu. www.herald.co.zw Response to “Chamisa, NewsDay shamed” That is why the President demanded evidence. So many fake stories have been peddled to soil the name of Zimbabwe’s Government. I hope they will revise their statistics to a verifiable number. You can lie for political expediency, but it’s not sustainable. — Nhongo. *** Response to “John Deere dangles US$50 million deal” Good news for the economy from this massive and long established John Deere company, whose net sales and revenues reached US$26,6 billion in 2016. — Rangarirai. *** Response to “Buy Zimbabwe happy with Government support” Good move, however we need to do serious campaigns to get this buy local message to the masses. There are misconceptions about quality, price and durability of our local products enshrined in our citizens minds a deliberate effort to shift this mindset should be embarked. — Quadro. *** *** Government should thoroughly investigate all the alleged deaths to shame those who were crying foul and making conclusions, especially the Western world who were sold a dummy by both the opposition and some NGOs. — Eliah.
