ZVISHAVANE Community Share Ownership Trust (ZCSOT) has disbursed $95 000 towards developmental projects in 19 wards of Zvishavane District in the past two years.

In an interview, ZCSOT chief executive officer Mr Partson Jinga said the trust was committed to bringing development in Zvishavane District to complement Government’s developmental projects aimed at uplifting the livelihood of people.

“As Zvishavane Share Community Ownership Trust, we have been giving $5 000 to each and every ward since 2017, bringing us to a total of $95 000,” he said. “We have a total of 19 wards and these funds have been put to very good use and have been impacting positively to the communities.”

Mr Jinga said some communities have used the funds to rehabilitate schools and other infrastructural projects.

“The communities have been working on their health and educational infrastructure like rehabilitating classroom blocks and clinics,” he said. “Some communities also managed to connect water to schools.”

Mr Jinga said this year, the trust was continuing with the $5 000 disbursements to all the wards, as the trust is committed to improving the livelihoods of people in Zvishavane.

“The trust is committed to build sustainable livelihoods in Zvishavane community through infrastructural and social services development, investment promotion and capacity building, with other development oriented stakeholders,” he said.

Since its inception in 2010, the trust has electrified more than seven schools, constructed 17 classroom blocks at different schools dotted around the district, constructed a new secondary school with a fully equipped science laboratory, and also established Mupani Mhototi Irrigation Scheme.
