Harare City, Nottingham Forest twin

- Tadious Manyepo Sports Reporter

HARARE City are one step into a watershed twinning deal with Nottingham Forest after the coach Mark Harrison reported tremendous progress following his meeting with officials from the English Championship side.

Harrison, who hails from Derby, a city closer to Nottingham, used his vacation to meet with the chief executive of the Nottingham Sports Community, Graham Moran, who agreed in principle to work towards the union.

Nottingham Forest provides a home to Zimbabwe international defender Tendayi Darikwa and he will be made ambassador of the partnership.

“I was in the UK two weeks ago where I met with Nottingham Forest's top brass. We discussed the possibilities of a twinning arrangement between the two teams, obviously because the two cities, Harare and Nottingham, are also twinning,'' said Harrison.

“So, the ideal scenario will be for Harare City FC and Nottingham Forest FC to twin as well.

“The meeting was very productive and when I left, the impression was that the link was already in place.

“We are looking forward to establishing the relationship and everybody knows there is a Zimbabwean player, Tendayi Darikwa, at Nottingham Forest and we can get him to be the ambassador between the two clubs.

“This is the early stages of a good and productive relationship. If we can succeed in those plans, it will be a big and important step for Harare City FC.''
