Listeners Club donates wheelchair

- Arts Reporter

NATIONAL FM Listeners Club on Wednesday responded to six-yearold Kudzanai Chauke’s plight and donated a wheelchair and a sitting pot.

The club, which has over 3 000 registered members, took time to give back to the community and helped Chauke, who cannot walk after developing a growth on the back.

Her mother, Precious Chauke praised the club saying she was happy that her son has become the youngest member of the club, and the wheelchair will help him when going to school.

“I am so happy with what the club members have done for my son, who cannot walk, as he has developed a growth on his back.

“When ZBC visited I never thought people would respond positively to my problems. I am grateful to them that my son now has a wheelchair, and a sitting pot as it was very difficult to take him to the toilet, hence he was soiling himself every time.

“We hope that we will continue to get support as there is still need for diapers and school fees for Kudzanai to enrol at a nearby school.

“We are struggling to make ends meet, but there is nothing I can do as I am a single parent.

“I will be happy to see my child undergo an operation, but it is hard.

“At the moment there is nothing which has been done. We never took him to the doctors recommended to us, because of financial constraints. So no tests have been done on him.

“He is in pain, but there is nothing we can do,” she said.

National FM Listeners Club president Amon Madzvamuse said they were touched by the young boy’s plight. He thanked members of the club, who made it possible to buy the wheelchair and the pot.

“I am so grateful to our members. We are now doing a good thing after we also helped some of our members in need.

“This is only the beginning, and we are going to make sure that the young boy gets all the necessary support whenever we can.

“The idea is to bring happiness to communities, and we are going to continue helping them whenever we can,” said Madzvamuse.
