FreeZim blasts corruption, sanctions

- Yeukai Tazira Herald Reporter

FREEZIM Congress leader Joseph Makamba Busha has urged the nation to weed out corruption to end economic challenges.

Addressing a Press conference on Friday, Mr Busha said there was need to create new industries to back the soon-to-be introduced Zimbabwe dollar banknotes.

“Our party recognises President Mnangagwa as the duly-elected President of Zimbabwe and I respect him.

“As a country we need to create new industries which will back our currency because we are now in the Fourth Industrial Revolution.

“We need to account for everything we produce and make sure each and every province contributes to the Gross Domestic Product (GDP) (in terms of) our mining, agriculture and tourism sectors,” he said.

He also condemned sanctions on Zimbabwe which he said were suffocating the economy.

“As FreeZim we are against sanctions and we wrote to the American Embassy that they need to scrap ZIDERA.

“We agree that ZIDERA affects the ordinary Zimbabweans and not only those in Government.

“So as a party and as a leader of Free Zimbabwe we are against sanctions and we have always said that.

“There is nowhere in history to suggest that sanctions have ever worked to cause change or force reforms. We want to appeal to the broader international community that the sanctions are hurting the ordinary man in the street,” he said.

Mr Busha was among the record 23 Presidential candidates who contested last year’s election won by President Mnangagwa.
