‘Zanu-PF fulfils election promises’

- Thupeyo Muleya Beitbridge Bureau

ZANU-PF is fulfilling most of its pre-election promises, among them empowering women and youths to improve issues of self-sustenance and community development.

This was said by Beitbridge Senator Tambudzani Mohadi during a training of trainers programme at Longobwe in Ward 1 which is being rolled out by the party’s Women’s League.

The Women’s League is training women in the district on life skills among them baking, small to medium enterprises management, livestock production, candle, soap, floor and shoe polish making.

Sen Mohadi said it is important for politicians to engage people in development initiatives.

“As politicians, we must learn to get back to the electorate after elections. Our relationship is eternal,” she said.

“Currently as the Women’s League we are rolling out a programme that seeks to empower women and the youth on issues of sustainable community development.

“We have noted that women bear the large portion of the social burden and hence the need to capacitate them with knowledge and the right tools to be able to work for themselves. However, we are not excluding men since we also want to address issues of gender equality.

“These are some of the promises enshrined in the Zanu-PF manifesto to uplift people’s way of life especially in rural areas.”

She said women were being trained on cost sies of some powerful Western nations,” he said.

“We have since deliberately re- branded ourselves into a patriotic, homegrown and Pan- Africanist political party. We confidently and unashamedly occupy the centre- left position, ideologically. We are true and authentic social democrats advocating for the creation of a stable, progressive, peaceful social democratic nation state in Zimbabwe where all citizens are treated as equals regardless of race, ethnicity, colour or creed.”

Mr Gutu said implementation of operational and holistic measures was needed to effectively fight corruption as it was crippling the country’s economy.

“MDC- T’s position on corruption is clear and unequivocal: We strongly advocate for the adoption and implementation of effective and holistic measures to identify, curb and ultimately eliminate all forms of corruption,” he said.

“Corruption is a cancer that is deeply embedded in Zimbabwe and must be crushed.” effective ways to run their own businesses in a rural set up.

Sen Mohadi encouraged the trainees to form small consortiums and approach banks to access loans to boost their businesses.

“Training is being clustered across the districts so that we don’t exclude anyone. The whole idea is to change the mindset, empower and capacitate them.

“They should also take advantage of the Women’s Bank which is dedicated to turn their lives around through the provision of loans,” she said.

She said it is also important for women to actively participate in economic affairs.

Sen Mohadi added that women must prioritise education for themselves and their children.

“Though the Zanu-PF Government is doing its part in churning out empowerment projects, let us have more women and children going to school to boost the country’s human capital and the quest to create equal job opportunities for men and women,” she said.
