Youth League chips in with sanitisers

- Herald Reporter

PRESIDENT Mnangagwa yesterday received a donation of 5 000 litres of hand sanitisers and face masks, among other items from the Zanu PF Youth League.

The party’s deputy Secretary for Youth Affairs Cde Tendai Chirau presented the donation to the President who commended the league’s move to partner local companies in the production of sanitisers and personnel protective equipment (PPEs) to fight the spread of the Covid-19 pandemic.

So far 34 people have tested positive in Zimbabwe with five recoveries and four deaths.

“We are happy with the innovative ideas exhibited by the Youth League to fight the spread of Covid-19. We are really happy with that,” said President Mnangagwa who was accompanied by the party’s Secretary for Administration Dr Obert Mpofu.

Zanu PF director for Information and Publicity, Cde Tafadzwa Mugwadi said the donation would go a long way in intensifying the fight against Covid-19.

“The Youth League has these donations from a number of indigenous business players and most of them are young people. A track record of these young people reflects that they were empowered by the party through various ways to commence their own businesses.

“They are young patriotic entrepreneurs who have decided not to leave the battle against Covid-19 to the President and health personnel alone. Every citizen has a responsibility to contribute in whatever capacity that they can. This is what they have decided to do in their way and as a party we welcome the gesture,” said Cde Mugwadi.
