Mapeza confi rms collapse of TTM deal
FORMER Warriors coach, Norman Mapeza, is back home after a brief engagement with South African Premiership side, Tshakuma Tsha Madzivhandila.
He quit the club due unfavourable working conditions.
It was reported last week that Mapeza was in Limpopo, and already conducting training sessions at the club, which acquired the Bidvest Wits franchise.
But, yesterday, the former FC Platinum gaffer ended his unofficial stint with the club, describing the latest development as a professional decision.
According to South African publication TimesLive, the former Zimbabwe international, revealed he never signed a contract with the Premiership debutantes and was only there for an assessment.
“I’m back at home now‚” Mapeza told TimesLIVE.
“(It was) just a professional decision. I thought I couldn’t build a team under three weeks which was going to compete to my liking. “(There is) nothing much to it. “I was just doing assessment and watched two training games. (My stay with TTM) was just for assessment my brother.’’
Yesterday, Mapeza said he was managing some stuff first and will give his side of the story after three days. His manager Gibson Mahachi was not reachable.
Although finer details about Mapeza’s departure were not readily available, it is believed the former Chippa United coach was not pleased with the toxic working environment at TTM.
TTM chief executive, Sello Chokoe, could not confirm or deny Mapeza was with the club, but insisted they were still busy finalising their technical team.
“It’s a pity that people write things and then tomorrow they write different things, but, like I said, we have not yet finalised details of our technical team,” Chokoe told South African website, FARPost.
“We should be able to do so, probably, before the first match. We are still sorting out a lot of things, it’s a process and we don’t want to rush it. “We are trying to assemble a strong team that will be competitive, both on the players and the technical staff so, at this stage, nothing has been finalised yet,” he said.
