Who is your community role model?

-

THEY always say, a childhood role model is anyone who can provide nourishment, nurture, and encouragement to a child. Those who serve as role models to a child demonstrate how to learn, and they guide and facilitate the learning process.

Th is week we asked, “Tell us about your community hero or heroine and why that person deserves to be a role model?”

Kupakwashe Mayenga, (18), Winwood College

FROM my understanding, role models are people who influence others by serving as examples.

They are often admired by the people who emulate them.

Through their perceived personal qualities, behaviours, or achievements, they can inspire others to strive and develop without providing any direct instruction.

My role model is my elder brother Tanatsa. He has been a pillar of strength to me and I chose him to be the hero for our community because through him, with his friends, they initiated a process of patching some potholes in our community.

The road became user friendly.

Munashe Mazarura, (21), Catholic University

MY role model is a gospel artiste from South Africa, Khaya Mthetwa. The reason why I adore him is because of his journey in the music industry.

Seeing how he grew musically, the ups and downs inspires me a lot. He can be a community leader.

Kuzivakwashe Milcah Wazara, 23 Recycling Lady Projects

My community heroine is my mother Mary Wazara. Even through tough times as this (Covid-19 pandemic), she has managed to fight environmentally for clean community.

She has encouraged many people and families to take part in the recycling activities such as separating plastics, glass, cardboard and leaves into their own separately bags. She has build a recycling cage in Emerald Hill where people can come and drop of their recycling.

My mother is also into the manufacture of plastic Binliners and she sells them.

She has taught us, as her children that nothing is worthless. Old recyclable trash can be used to make other new things, like how chip packets can make handbags.

Bottles can also make more bottles.

Tinotenda Adonai Mawupa, (16), Chemhanza High School

A role model is some with influence. He or she can inspire us what we do and how we eventually turn out in later life.

A good role model serves as an example for inspiring, motivating us to work hard to uncover our true inner potentials while overcoming our weaknesses and to encourage our actions to gain success. My role model is Dumi Mokokstad from South Africa because I love the way he presents himself to the world. I also love the way he minister to people through music.

Donnel Mangena, (18)

I live in Mbizo 4 community located in Kwekwe city.

My community is a beautiful community filled with many energetic youths.

So for the past years it is has been well known for having well cultured youths, who knows their norms, values and treasures them dearly.

But recently cases of juvenile deliquencies have been rising with some further investigations pertaining the cause we only got to realise it was due to the scarcity of jobs and also parents where failing to send children to school.

Children had nothing else to keep them company except for doing drugs and commiting crimes.

One local pastor called Prophet Mkhululi Nyathi realised the the problem and started empowering the youths through his teachings and speeches.

This great man of God did not end there he started to introduce youth outings, created jobs for the youths through his projects and so forth.

This was a major deed which helped the youths in our community to discover the goals and objects in life and started pressing towards them.

Only but to mention a few of his deeds he deserves to be be accoladed for that because he restored back the pride of the community and brought back hope to some hopeless youths who had lost it in life.
