THE much-awaited Expo 2020 Dubai kicked off yesterday, with visitors to Zimbabwe’s pavilion excited about the displays.

Zimbabwe’s Ambassador to the United Arab Emirates Lovemore Mazemo toured the stand and was happy with the exhibits.

Ambassador Mazemo was walked through the pavilion by Expo 2020 Dubai – Zimbabwe Commissioner General, Ambassador Mary Mubi.

Speaking from Dubai last night, media liaison officer Ms Prisca Murwira said: “The Expo 2020 Dubai opened doors to the world today (yesterday). Those who visited the pavilion were excited about our displays. We look forward to more numbers as expo days progress.”

The theme of the expo is, “Connecting the minds, creating the future”.

Zimbabwe is participating under the theme, “Zimbabwe — the Land of Great Opportunities as we seek to attain an Upper Middle Economy by 2030”.

Zimbabwe’s participation at Expo 2020 Dubai has generated a lot of interest to the world.

Its pavilion is one of the most visible and well-dressed in the Opportunities district, located at the epicentre of the expo site, closer to the United Emirates pavilion and the much-talked about Al Wasl Plaza, which will host the official opening and country National Days.

Ambassador Mubi said continued coordination between the Expo Team and Team Zimbabwe, saw the pavilion being one of the first to reach completion level ahead of the official opening and highly commended for its level of organisation and smooth flow of the storyline.

“The pavilion is easily identified by the facades dressed by the mighty Victoria Falls, Great Zimbabwe monument and the capital city Harare bold pictures.

“These are complemented by an array of pictures of the people of Zimbabwe which brings ambience to the external facade that has been described by many as one of the most attractive in the district,” said Ambassador Mubi.
