Coca-Cola, Minerva donate to SOZ
SPECIAL Olympic Zimbabwe were handed office furnitur, worth over $ 1 million by Coca- Cola Women’s Linc and Minerva Insurance yesterday.
Lilian Chikara, the SOZ national director, said this will go a long way in helping them.
“We are very happy to be able to partner these two giants, Coca-Cola and Minerva Insurance, and we are grateful,’’ said Chikara.
“As SOZ, we look forward to the general support from cooperates, and individuals, so that we sustain ourselves.”
SOZ board chairman, Innocent Matibiri, said they were happy to have received the donation and they will keep the property in good condition.
“It is with sincere gratitude that I receive this generous donation of $1 284 095 that you have availed to Special Olympics Zimbabwe from your two organisations — CocoCola Women’s Linc and Minerva Insurance.
“Coca- Cola supports Special Olympics programmes, and events, around the world through monetary and in-kind donations, volunteer support and awareness-driving initiatives.
“In 2019, Coca-Cola again leveraged the reach and relevancy of its global brand to activate the Special Olympics World Games in Abu Dhabi.
“The global and local support helps build awareness, through Coca-Cola marketing assets, refreshing athletes and fans on-site during the games, and we look forward to this continued partnership.
“For, Minerva Insurance, we will need to do more, in terms of risk management for both human capital, as well as other assets.
“Part of the donation has already been put to good use, with furniture having been purchase for our Secretariat’s office, which did not have suitable furniture.
“The balance will be used towards hosting of the SOZ National Games in December 2021, as we prepared for the Pan Africa Games in 2022 in Rwanda, and then the Summer Games in 2023 in Berlin.’’
Delta Beverages corporate affairs executive, Patricia Murambinda, said they were delighted to continue supporting SOZ.
Minerva general manager, Solomon Mavuka, said this was just the beginning of a journey.
