Response to “New dawn as kits to assemble 21 buses arrive from China”

Great news indeed! This will be a great achievement as many will be provided with transport. Assembling buses locally also creates employment opportunities for many. — @Hannah.

Response to “No hiccups to schools opening”

It is good that students have managed to get a chance to go back to school. We are all hoping that they catch up on their school work. As we get into winter we hope classes will not be affected and there will not be another Covid19 wave. — @ Joseph Mbaiwa.

Response to “Over 110 000 registered in blitz”

ZEC

It is pleasing seeing that many people have already registered as voters. Those who have not registered should go to the designated areas and register. It is us who can determine what we want for our country. — @Sandra Chingoma.

Response to “Editorial Comment: New term requires full commitment”

Parents should show their commitment to education by paying fees for their children. Government has done its part by setting the dates for the school calendar. Schools should also ensure students adhere to Covid-19 prevention regulations and we will have a successful term. — Debra Siziba.

Response to “Smuggler’s 500 000 assets frozen”

US$

Smuggling is a crime, eventually you will learn that crime does not pay. You may get away with it a couple of times, but the law will catch up with you at some point in time. Some people do not realise that clearing your goods formally is not as “expensive” as some of these smugglers would have you believe. With access to the right information and procedures, you may realise that a portion of your consignment may be enjoying favourable rates of duty, rebates or other exemptions. The cost of smuggling in such cases is far greater than the benefit of formalising your clearance. Corruption has become the daily bread in our country. ZACC is making the situation better. Maybe Muhamba has his own means of crossing with the goods through bribes, thus a thorough investigation should be done, for he cannot be dealing alone. There are others behind his back. This same person has other cases of money laundering, smuggling of second-hand clothes from Mozambique and unlawful dealing in diamonds, thus making it clear that he is not a first time offender. — Tee Blacks.

Response to “Potato imports stopped to promote local industry”

Great news that Zimbabwean farmers have been granted the opportunity to grow potatoes on a large scale. They have to meet the targets so that there will be no shortages in our country as all will be expecting to order locally. — Hakurotwe Tinashe.
