Zanu PF’s skills training gets thumbs up
SOME 180 women drawn from the nine districts of Mashonaland East Province recently completed short courses in skills training organised by ZANU PF Women’s League, as the party wing walks the talk on economically empowering women across the country.
This is also in sync with the Second Republic’s agenda of economic upliftment of all Zimbabweans especially women and youths, with the ultimate objective of leaving no one and no place behind.
During the Mashonaland East provincial celebrations of the International Women’s Day held at Dema, in Seke last weekend, many women who had completed the training, showcased their products and thanked ZANU PF for the life-changing skills. Mrs Agneta Moyo from Chikomba district, who benefited from the programme, said she expects the skills to her and colleague eke out a decent living.
“I am thankful to the Women’s League for these programmes. Now I am able to make own sanitisers, bath soap and washing powder. These programmes are so good to us women. We are now able to save a lot of money which we have been using to buy these products.
“As you can see, these products require cash for one to get them and they are used on a daily basis, which means I can earn a living by manufacturing them and selling to others. Thank you ZANU PF for the empowerment programme,” said Mrs Moyo.
Ms Auxillia Richard from Mudzi commended the Women’s League for the programme, adding that she will start a business soon and take care of her family.
“This will change our lifestyle for the better as a family, thanks to this programme. I learnt that it pays to use own hands productively. I no longer buy things like sanitisers for my family, even now I am able to carry around a small bottle of sanitiser that I would have made. I am grateful,” she said.
Mrs Maud Mutumwa said she was now able to assist families in her community to have a better life. “The skills will help in taking care of my family and my surroundings. I can now make petroleum jelly, foam bath and soap. I will, in the near future, start a business which will be prominent across the country.”
Mrs Abigail Kamutandu from Marondera said she will start a business and be able to take care of her children.
“I am happy that now I can manufacture some goods using my hands. I am a widow and I am also taking care of my grandchildren. Now I know I can take care of them and I commend the Women’s League for this programme,” she said.
Minister of State for Provincial Affairs and Devolution for Mashonaland East Province Aplonia Munzverengwi, who presided over the function, urged women to work hard and use their skills to uplift their lives.
