Liberation war hero Muderedzwa laid to rest

RETIRED Police Senior Assistant Commission­er, Ronald Muderedzwa, who was declared a Liberation

War Hero was laid to rest at his farm in Rusape.

The late, who died after battling a long illness, was buried last Sartuday at Chatora farm, Rusape.

It was a resounding send-off for the Rtd Senior Ass Comm Muderedzwa whose funeral was attended by hordes of people from all walks of life.

President Mnangagwa accorded him the Liberation War Hero status following requests from the Commission­er-General of the Zimbabwe Republic Police Commission­er General Godwin Matanga, his colleagues, family and the ZANU PF Manicaland Province leadership.

Manicaland Provincial Minister of State and Devolution Affairs Advocate Misheck Mugadza presided at the burial ceremony.

Deputy Commission­er- General of the Zimbabwe Republic Police Dr Ngirande represente­d the Police Commission­er General Godwin Matanga.

His son, Lovemore Muderedzwa, thanked the Government for granting his father the liberation war hero status.

Former Prosecutor-General Kumbirai Hodzi who had previously worked with the late liberation war hero, also attended the burial.

“He was a straightfo­rward and dedicated law enforcemen­t officer who shunned all forms of abuse of power and corruption,” he said.

Senior Assistant Commission­er (retired) Oliver Mandipaka saluted the profession­alism and integrity of the late liberation war hero lauding him for serving the country with distinctio­n and honour.

Rtd Senior Ass Comm Muderedzwa died on Tuesday last week at Parirenyat­wa Group of Hospitals aged 64.

The burial was attended by serving senior members of the police force , retired senior officers, senior civil servants, war veterans, Members of Parliament from Manicaland, Zimbabwe Defence Forces personnel, security services personnel and chiefs.

He is survived by his wife Magaret and five children.
