THE United Kingdom (UK) based Zimbabwean music producer Ngoni Gwasira says music is an integral part of his life and has vowed to remain on top of his game.

In an interview from his UK base, Gwasira told Herald Arts that his journey to becoming a producer has not been like a straw in the park.

“From my childhood I always wanted to do music and become a producer.

However, the journey was not easy, I faced many hurdles along the way but perseverance and determination have made me where I am today,” he said.

Gwasira recently produced a song for another UK-based gospel musician Fifi Sibanda on a single titled “God’s Love”.

He was also a co-writer of the song which is already receiving airplay.

The song was complemented by a high-quality video.

Gwasira who fully appreciates the support he is getting from other artistes said he is determined to deliver the best of his capabilities.

“I am enjoying working with different artistes here in the diaspora and I’m humbled by the support that I get even from artistes that are there back home.

“Over the years I have gained a lot of experience in music production and I’m proud of the fruits that I am seeing. I’m hoping to work with many more musicians,” said Gwasira.

Gwasira started playing piano at the age of 10 and would write songs and sing them at church.

He ventured into the music industry in 2004 and started production in 2005 renting other people’s studios. Gwasira said his church ZAOGA Forward in Faith and joining Zimpraise played a critical role in exposing him to his gifts.

“I remember that I was appointed music director at Highfield ZAOGA church in 2010 and then joined the group Sweet Inspiration which had a live recording in 2011 at HICC where

I was the music director,” he said.

He proceeded to join the award-winning gospel outfit ZimPraise in December 2014 as a keyboard player and was appointed deputy music director in 2017.

Gwasira then went to

Dubai and pursued music production for Zimbabwean artistes in Dubai.

He was subsequently appointed band director for FIF Ministries in Dubai (ZAOGA) where he managed to direct a live recording, with seven of his compositions which he mixed and mastered.

Gwasira also collaborated with musician Melissa Makwasha, also known as Mai Elder, on the song “Ndamutsvaga”.

He then proceeded to the United Kingdom where his love and passion for music were greatly received.

In the past, Gwasira has worked with, Mercy Mutsvene, Sebastian Magacha, Tawanda Mutyebere, Taurai Nzira, Bethan Pasinawako, Kudzi Nyakudya, Super Labien Musica, Uhuru tribe, Ellard Cherayi, Mpostori Wency, Zimpraise and many others which gave him exposure to the music world. Gwasira is proud to raise the flag of Zimbabwe in the diaspora, producing music and working with artistes from all over the world.
