Bosso midfielder attracts foreign interest

- Gerald Sibanda Sports Reporter

HIGHLANDERS developmental side Bosso90 midfielder Simbarashe Madzivire is attracting interest from teams across the border.

The 21-year-old Madzivire was the club’s top scorer in the Zifa Southern Region Division One with nine goals and there have been reports that several Botswana based clubs have been chasing his signature.

Last season, which was his second with Bosso’s developmental side, was his breakthrough year as he managed to beat the four-goal tally he had recorded during his first season with the club.

Despite the rumours which have been linking him with a move away, Madzivire said he remains focused at his team until something tangible materialises.

“I am well aware of all these rumours spreading around, but that should not change my attitude in any way towards the team I play for. I am where because of the season I had with my teammates and coaches, therefore my main focus is where I am today.

“Of course I have dreams. I also want to play for big teams outside the country and be one of those big players but I cannot rush it, I just have to keep working hard until something tangible materialises,” said Madzivire.

The midfielder joined Bosso90 in 2022 from FMSA Umguza, where he finished as the club’s top scorer with 28 goals at Under-17 level.

He also appreciated the role which has been played by his former academy in turning him into a decent player.

“They played a significant role in my development, I don’t think I would be where I am if it was not for the FMSA Umguza family, therefore I appreciate them a lot,” said Madzivire.
