HIGHLANDERS have opened the nomination process for the election of a chairman, secretary-general and committee member with Saturday January 20 set as the closing date.

As per tradition, the elections will be held a week after the club’s annual general meeting set for January 28.

The elections are set for February 4.

In a statement yesterday, Bosso said candidates can collect nomination papers at the club offices.

“Aspiring candidates must obtain appropriate nomination forms from the club office, 50 Robert Mugabe Way, for which a refundable fee of US$200 is payable should a candidate poll over 10 percent of total votes cast. The closing date for submission of the completed forms will be Saturday, January 20 at noon. Payments for forms can be done at the office or through the bank,” read the statement.

The three positions that are up for grabs are held by Johnfat Sibanda (chairman), Morgan Dube (secretary-general), and committee member Mgcini Mafu.

For the chairmanship, Sibanda will battle it out with former banker Eddison Dube, former chairman Kenneth Mhlophe and South Africa-based Nodumo Nyathi.

The last time the post attracted more than two candidates was in 2012 when Peter Dube beat Themba Ndlela and Mandla Moyo to the post.

In the secretary-general’s race Dube is set to be challenged by Nsikelelo Mafa-Moyo who has shown interest in the post.

The committee member race is also set to be a tightly contested one with Bheka Sibanda and Kindman Ndlovu seeking to replace Mgcini Mafu who is yet to declare his candidature. Former club administrator and first team manager who also was in charge of How Mine, Raerburn Ndebele is believed to be keen on picking up the forms to run for the post.

But before the elections, Bosso will hold their annual general meeting which will follow the usual agenda of reading a notice convening the meeting, reading of previous annual general meeting minutes, matters arising from the previous minutes, chairman’s report, treasurer’s re-port, receiving and adoption of board’s report, constitutional review, confirmation of legal representatives, confirmation of auditors and discussion of business that due notice would have been given.
