Women’s League empowers Mugodhi Church

- Ivan Zhakata Herald Correspondent

ZANU PF Women’s League has empowered female congregants from Mugodhi Apostolic Faith Church through the donation of sewing machines .

The ruling party’s Secretary for Women’s Affairs Cde Mabel Chinomona yesterday handed over the sewing machines to the church .

She also gave food hampers at the church’s Warren Park D premises much to the appreciation of the congregation.

Cde Chinomona said the donation was part of the promise they made before the August 2023 elections to empower women in the church.

“I would like to thank the church especially women for the support they have been giving us. There are some people who come with bad words trying to tarnish the image of Zanu PF, but we have to speak wisely to move our country forward.

“I have come to fulfil what we promised in Maringire. We want women to be advanced and empowered,” Cde Chinomona said.

She said women should not be idle, but do various projects including sewing to advance themselves and fend for their families.

“We want you to establish a training school for women to train how to sew and we want you to train from district level to national level,” Cde Chinomona said.

“We want teachers to sew garments for the church leaders. I have been sent to talk to the father for the word to reach Hwedza. We need to unite and develop our country because 2024 is a year of harvesting, but we have to plant first before we harvest.

“The sewing machines need to be assembled first before use and they should be put to good use. I encourage you to use them wisely and develop the nation.”

Bishop Mugodhi’s wife Mrs Sandra Chitsva-Gwetsayi welcomed the gesture.

“We would like to thank you. You have done a wonderful thing of empowering women in this church. The sewing machines will go a long way in giving skills to women in the church including the youth. You have fulfilled your promise and grateful for that,” she said.

Mrs Chitsva-Gwetsayi said the machines will remove the dependency syndrome among women but they will also contribute towards the upkeep of families.

“You have made us women not to rely on our husbands but to also contribute to the upkeep of our families. We are going to make use of the machines and see garments for the church,” she said.
